Who we are, what this site is, and what it is not.

Independence

The Portugal Civics Issue is independent.

We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or acting on behalf of the Portuguese government, AIMA, the IRN, the Assembleia da República, or any body that administers or will administer the Teste Nacional de Integração e Cidadania.

We read the official government sources, create our exam bank questions and responses, and check and verify each one. Where we cite law, we cite the primary text and say where it came from.

Everything on this site is published for information. It is not legal advice, and reading it does not create any professional relationship between you and us.

Nationality and immigration decisions turn on individual facts. If your situation matters to you, and it does, take it to a qualified Portuguese lawyer or a registered immigration professional. We will tell you what the law says. We will not tell you what to do about your case.

What we can and cannot tell you about the exam

Portugal has not published the TNIC's format, its number of questions, its passing score, or where and how it will be taken. That detail sits in an implementing regulation that has not been issued.

Anyone claiming to know those things today is guessing. That includes us, which is why we do not claim it.

What is known is the subject matter, which the law itself names: History, Culture, National Symbols, Political Organization of the State, and Fundamental Rights and Duties. Our study materials and question bank cover those five themes. They do not reproduce an official exam, because there is no published exam to reproduce.

No guarantee of outcome

We do not guarantee that using our materials will result in passing the TNIC, obtaining Portuguese nationality, or any particular decision by any authority. No one honestly can. What we can say is that preparation gives you a real edge: learning the subjects the law names — from primary sources, at your own pace — leaves you far better prepared than walking in cold. The better you understand the material, the better your chances. That part is genuinely in your control, and it is worth doing.

Accuracy, and how we handle being wrong

We verify every legal claim against a primary source before publishing it, and we date what we verify. Portuguese nationality law is being actively amended, and the implementing regulation is pending, so material on this site can be overtaken by events.
